Personal Brand Shoot with Interior Designer - Mabel Fox
Mabel Fox, founded by Katie, is an Interior design company based in Cambridge. Their goal is to transform homes in and around Cambridge through thoughtful, tailored interior design services. The main goal for Mabel Fox is to create spaces that truly reflect your personality and enhance the way their clients live.
The purpose of this photoshoot was to give a new set of professional images for Katie and the team to use to refresh their website and produce high quality content for their online channels.
About Mabel Fox
Born from a deep love of colour, pattern and purposeful design, Mabel Fox was founded by lead designer Katie, whose background spans everything from Liberty of London’s fabric halls to bespoke kitchen design with John Lewis of Hungerford.
It’s not just about making spaces look good (although trust me, they really do). Katie’s approach is both thoughtful and human rooted in helping people create homes that feel both beautiful and liveable. Whether it’s through her one-to-one interior design service or her curated collection of prints, gifts and homewares, every piece has that signature Mabel Fox charm: a touch of Scandi calm, a pop of personality, and a whole lot of heart.
The Vibe
We went into this shoot with a balance of fun and professional shots in mind. The goal was to create a gallery that told the story of Mabel Fox through professional headshots, close ups showcasing creativity and a mix of angles. We worked on a shot list that would give us a variety of images showing every angle of Mabel Fox to ensure that these photos would work seamlessly across her website and social media channels alongside the images she has of her finished projects and mood board images.
Together we chose The Founders Room at Many Rooms, London. It was the perfect backdrop to give us the professional desk set up, lots of surface space for laying out mood boards and swatches and colours that complemented the brand perfectly. Prior to the day, Katie picked out props that perfectly represented her brand including mood boards, swatches, products from her online shop and the tools she uses in her day to day work such as her laptop, notebook and design magazines.
The Shoot
Shoot day was so much fun - we travelled into London together along with Miriam, freelance graphic designer and social media manager in Katie’s team. We battled train strikes and eating out lunch with coffee cup lids after it arrived with no cutlery and still had the best day and created a gallery of images that I’m already loving seeing across Katie’s social media and website.
Having Miriam there not only put Katie at complete ease in front of the camera, but it also meant she was able to get some behind the scenes content and make the most of the photoshoot.
Our shot list & mood board included:
Relaxed, natural portraits
Detail focused flatlays with fabric swatches
Creative walking shots
The Final Gallery
By planning ahead, we were able to make sure the final gallery included all of Katie’s must have shots and enough balance and variety that she could use the images for a range of purposes including her website, social media channels and email newsletters.
